Hey, I'm back and trying to keep this going. I'll be expanding on some of the practaces that we were doing before hand.
This is the problem: I am a student who is trying to transfer next semester. I'm taking 19 units and two non-credit classes. Twenty-seven hours worth of classes have robbed me of free time. Add on the time I need to care for my house, animals, freelance stuff, and relations and I'm verrryyyy busy. If anyone would be willing to help out I'm looking for people that would like to be part of the group. Depending on how many people or if anyone is willing, I would assign things for them to do in the club.

Fact: Most LGBT know within the first ten years of life of their orientation.
Fact: 2.3% of the population is LGBT. This leaves the other 97.7% as straight
Fact: We can ALL be friends.


So what is a GSA anyways?

GSAs are Gay-Straight Alliances. They are groups, usually put together by students, for LGBTs and their straight allies. The goal of GSA is to make people feel welcome and safe to a group regardless of orientation. [For more information on GSAs, log onto gaystraightalliance.org]



Are there gay holidays I as an LGBT or a straight ally can celebrate/participate in?

April 25th: The Day of Silence is an annual day of action to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, and their supporters. Students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students and their supporters.

October 11th: National Coming Out Day is an internationally-observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues. It is observed on October 11 by members of the LGBT communities and their supporters (often referred to as "allies").

February 10-16: A week of seizing the opportunity to have conversations with family members, friends, and coworkers about the importance of ending same-sex couples' exclusion from marriage.

Gay Tuesday: Every Tuesday is Gay Tuesday. Show off your pride with shirts, buttons, holding hands with your lover, passing out rainbow stickers, etc.



What does this club focus on?

Tolerance: This not only includes tolerance of a person based on orientation, but also gender, color, ethnicity, etc. We try to spread an awareness of tolerance needed in all aspects.

Friendship: Sometimes when a person is LGBT or a supporter, they feel like an outcast and that no one will be their friend. In this club everyone is a friend. Through this club we hope those who have always felt alone, will be able to make the friends they’ve always wanted.

Feeling Comfortable with Sexuality: Every person struggles with recognizing and feeling comfortable with not only their own sexuality, but those around them. Through weekly discussions we hope to help others with this problem.

Understanding: People have questions. Whether the admins of this club or fellow members know the answer, we believe through the club people can have a better understanding of LGBT, straight allies, sexuality, tolerance, or anything to help them with life.

Education: Part of the problem of homophobia is that people are ignorant of the truth. With the help of everyone involved here we can help to educate and thus reduce homophobia. We will also educate ourselves as most people don't get education from their schools and communities.

Fun and Art: We hope every person who joins will submit some form of art and enjoy their time with us, while learning and making friendships.

What are the submission rules?

+MUST be your own art!! You cannot send in someone else’s!
+NO FANART!! (there are hundreds of clubs for that in DA)
+Nothing that belongs in mature content (love pictures and writing must be fluff/romance that everyone can enjoy/view. This club is not about sex.)
+The art must follow DeviantArt rules so the club isn’t banned.
+Artwork must consist of one of more of the following: LGBT or straight couple art, art on friendship, art for pride, art about tolerance, art representing GSA
+Poetry/Prose is accepted and follows the same submission rules



How do I submit my work?

+You MUST be a member to submit art
+Send a note to club or admin titled: submit
+The note must include: title of your picture, a link, and the category to put it in.
+Please only submit THREE a day.
